Addison Braves win NABF Regional Tournament!

Kankakee, IL. August 12,2007 – The Braves won five straight games to clinch the regional championship. In the first game Mike Marren went the distance to beat the South Suburban Leagues Intercom A’s 15-6. Dave Ciaglia had a 3 run homerun to help power the offence in that game. In the second game Scott Bailey threw a gem at the UIC League Gators in a 4-2 win, a complete game win with 3 strikeouts in the last inning. Mike McGuire and Dave Ciaglia drove in key runs in that game. In the 3rd game Matt Havey gave up only 2 runs in another complete game effort beating the Beecher Muskies 3-2. All but one starter had a hit in that game with Pete Miller providing a key Double in the 5th inning.

In the 4th game Jim Jannisch got the win pitching 6 strong innings and Eric Binder got the save pitching the final 3 innings against the UIC League Badgers, the final score was 9-3. The game was blown open in the 9th inning when the Braves got 6 hits and 4 runs. Pete Miller and Mitch Thomson each had 4 hits to lead the offence in that game.

In the championship game the Braves played the 5 consecutive years regional champs Beecher Muskies for the second time in the tournament. The game was scoreless in the 6th inning when the Muskies broke thru with 2 runs. The Braves got those two runs back in the 8th inning with another double by Pete Miller and a single by Keenan Long driving in the runs. The Braves then put two more on the board in the 9th. The big hit came with men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs; Frank Green lined a single to left field to score the 2 runs. Kevin Loukota pitched another complete game for the Braves the 4th in the tournament. He retired the side in order in the 9th.

The Addison Braves will now move on to the Nationals in Louisville. With the first game at 9:30 am at Derby City Field against Toledo on Thursday 8/16.
